Now that the world seems to have regained elemental balance, one can observe nature and its adaptation to the environment as never before. Known as the “Pilgrims' Delight,” the Honeyed Caterpillar proliferates along the pilgrimage path, especially around the various structures dating from the Age of the Deities. These caterpillars are an excellent source of the sugars and nutrients needed for the ascent. Pilgrims are, moreover, forbidden to hunt other species or gather plants, as these living candies are their only authorized source of food in the wild. Their sweet, sugary scent guides travelers from the Southern Crossing of Shal'Ael Shala to the foot of Okaemi. Often deemed too cute to be eaten, these caterpillars are usually spared by the pilgrims, who prefer to carry bags full of bread and feed on the honey the caterpillars leave behind. Once they have become marvelous golden butterflies, they guide the pilgrims, which saves them from an accidental death during the ascent.
